We had a wonderful visit with Shane from KWCH! He and our service technician, Brady, discussed how to prepare our cars for the winter weather ahead. What maintenance tips did Shane and Brady share?
Check Your Tire Tread Depth
Low tire tread depth can increase the risk of hydroplaning in cold and wet conditions. Outside of coming to our Eddy's Toyota Service Center, you can use a gauge or the quarter test to check the tread depth on your tire.
Check Your Dashboard & Warning Indicators
Brady stresses the importance of keeping your gas tank half full (at the minimum) because you never know what could happen out there on the road. It's also important to check your warning indicators because a small problem can turn into a bigger problem that could potentially lead to a dangerous situation (and more money to fix).
Be Prepared
If you get stranded on the side of the road, you will regret not having essential items to keep you comfortable until help arrives. It's encouraged to keep jumper cables, a thick heavy coat (think your heater goes out), bottled water, a cell phone, and a blanket in your trunk in case an emergency arises.
Check Wiper Blades
Make sure your wiper blades are working properly, especially during the rainy and snowy months! Bad weather makes it hard to see already and you don't want bad windshield wipers to decrease your visibility even further (putting you & your passenger at risk).
We're thankful for our time with Shane and Brady! Be sure to visit their full segment: Where's Shane? Eddy's Everything, Helping You Make Sure Your Car Is Prepared For Winter Weather. From there, you can see Brady under the hood and showing Shane the ropes of proper car maintenance!
