Living in the Wichita area, including Kansas City, Derby or Hutchinson, Kansas, can mean a lot of driving, so it pays to have a dependable, yet comfortable vehicle that also gets good gas mileage. This is where the Toyota Camry comes in. At Eddy's Toyota, a division of Brandon Steven Motors, owned by Brandon Steven, we feel so strongly that the Camry will meet your needs, we invite you to check out the detailed comparison of the Camry vs. the Nissan Altima that we've provided for you here. Read on to find out more about the ways that the Toyota Camry is superior to the Nissan Altima.
Safety
While Both the Camry and the Altima boast multiple airbags, the Camry offers driver and passenger knee airbags, mounted low on the dashboard, which enhance the level of safety and also help prevent serious injury during a crash. Altima doesn't offer knee airbags. Toyota Camry also has daytime running lights, a feature that some studies have shown to be as much as 11% more effective in preventing accidents by making your vehicle more conspicuous. The Nissan Altima does not offer daytime running lights. Camry also offers an optional feature on the XLE trim called "Safety Connect," which uses GPS and cellular data to help track your vehicle if it's stolen or if airbags deploy. The Altima offers navigation, but no live-response system. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rates the Camry as a "top pick" for 2012 crash tests, a designation not awarded to the Altima. In addition, the Toyota Camry comes with complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years or 25,000 miles. If you run out of gas, need a jump start, lock your keys in the car or any other scenario where you require assistance, Toyota has you covered. Nissan does not offer complimentary roadside assistance with the Altima.
As tested in Consumer Reports the Camry Hybrid is faster than the Altima Sedan 2.5:

Reliability
Before we can begin talking about reliability, we need to talk about scheduled maintenance. The best way to make sure that your new vehicle maintains its dependability is to keep up on regular maintenance. While Nissan offers no complimentary maintenance plan standard, Toyota will pay for your scheduled maintenance for 2 years or 25,000 miles including oil changes, tire rotation, lubrication and any other recommended scheduled maintenance that your new Camry requires. In addition, J.D. power and associates also ranks the Camry significantly higher than the Altima in initial quality and long-term dependability surveys.
Performance
Not only does a comparable Camry model outperform a comparable Altima in terms of speed and acceleration, the Camry is more fuel efficient Altimaing to the EPA. In addition, the Camry has larger brake rotors than the Altima, which help the Camry stop in a shorter distance than the Altima. the Camry also comes standard with an automatic transmission at every trim level. With Altima, an automatic transmission is an option that costs extra. Additionally, in various agility tests such as cornering and figure-eight, the Camry easily outperformed the Altima. The Camry also boasts a tighter turning circle versus the Altima. Car and Driver tested each car under full throttle and found that the interior of the Camry is quieter than that of the Altima.
The Camry stops much shorter than the Altima Sedan:

Comfort & Interior Design
When it comes to rear legroom, headroom and shoulder room, the Camry beats the Altima at every cab configuration and, for more versatility, the Camry has split folding rear seats where the Altima does not. Additionally, the Camry features gas struts to hold up its hood where the Altima has a more dangerous prop-rod support system.
Recommendations
Versus the Altima, the Toyota Camry is recommended by Consumer Reports, is a Car Book "Best Bet" and won two Kiplinger's awards.
