Safety
Both the RAV4 and the Escape offer a full compliment of standard safety features such as airbags and adjustable seatbelts. RAV4 does offer a standard locking fuel door which is an excellent barrier against theft and vandalism. The Escape doesn't offer a locking fuel door.

Performance
Not only does a comparable RAV4 model outperform a comparable Escape in terms of speed and acceleration, the RAV4 is more fuel efficient according to the EPA. RAV4 stops in a shorter distance than the Escape. the RAV4 also performed better in certain agility tests than the Escape which will equate to better handling overall.

Comfort & Interior Design
Bluetooth® connectivity is standard on the Toyota RAV4 where the Escape offers it only as an option and, for more versatility, the RAV4 has a greater cargo capacity with the rear seat up than Escape and the interior is quieter overall in the RAV4. On top of all this, RAV4 offers the option of memory seats which make it convenient for more than one driver to store their preference settings. The Escape does not offer this feature. The RAV4 also offers the SmartKey system and a power rear liftgate, which makes getting in and out of the vehicle and loading cargo much easier than with the Escape, since Ford doesn't offer this option on this model.
